A Qatari delegation headed by Minister of Commerce and Industry HE Ali bin Ahmed al Kuwari has participated in the 58th meeting of the Committee for Trade Cooperation, the 46th meeting of the Committee for Industrial Cooperation and the first meeting of the GCC Ministerial Committee for Standardisation Affairs, in Muscat on Thursday.
The Committee for Trade Cooperation discussed several issues of common concern, including trade issues, common challenges facing GCC countries, ways to activate joint GCC work in the field of trade, encouraging entrepreneurship and innovation initiatives for SMEs in the GCC, and ways to integrate these companies in the fields of economic development, in addition to identifying a common Gulf position on issues related to WTO aspects.
The Committee for Industrial Cooperation discussed a number of issues of concern to the industrial environment in the GCC countries, particularly the unified industrial regulation law, the obstacles and difficulties facing the iron industry sector, as well as the free movement of national goods between GCC countries without customs restrictions.
The Qatari delegation also participated in the consultative meeting between the Ministers of Commerce and Industry and Heads of GCC Unions and Chambers of Commerce and Industry held in the Omani capital Muscat.
During the meeting of the Committee for Trade Cooperation, the ministers welcomed the holding of the annual forum for entrepreneurs during the year 2020 in Dhofar, Oman.
