QATAR University’s (QU) Gas Processing Center at the College of Engineering has signed a framework agreement in research and training with the Russian Rosneft Research and Development Center, which was recently opened at Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP).
The agreement aims to expand the horizons of cooperation between the two parties in the fields of scientific research and development in the models of technology used in the fields of oil and gas, as well as conduct joint research and training courses in this field.
The agreement was signed by the Dean of the College of Engineering at QU Dr Khalid Kamal Naji and the Director-General of Rosneft Research and Development Center Dr Murad Bagliev, in the presence of Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Qatar HE Nurmakhmad Kholov and a number of officials from both sides.
Dr Naji explained that the agreement with Rosneft is based on the policy of QU to develop such agreements with local and international partners specialised in the priority research areas of Qatar, pointing out that gas research is a key pillar in the field of oil and natural gas industry.
For his part, Dr Murad Bagliev expressed his happiness over the agreement, which allows interaction and deepening of partnership with QU, represented by the College of Engineering and the Gas Processing Center in the field of research and development and education.
He said that by signing the agreement, they will get the incentive to develop and integrate into modern technological and scientific solutions and exchange knowledge between Qatar and Russia.
Director of the Gas Processing Center Prof Muftah El Naas pointed out that the aim of this agreement is to expand the areas of cooperation in the field of oil and gas industry between QU and Rosneft through the exchange of expertise and information.
