The energetic performance of Philippine traditional festival dance by students of Philippine International School in Qatar (PISQ) highlighted the opening of the DC Asian Night Market held at the Children’s Play Area of Aspire Park on Friday.
A huge number of residents from across nationalities came in full force to support the community event featuring dozens of restaurants offering Asian cuisines.
The event was organised by Doha City Event Management & Services (DC Event) in collaboration with Italian company INNOVATIVE Hight-Tech Solutions.
Among the VIPs who witnessed the merriment and participated in the food tasting of the best of Asian dishes were the Ambassador of Ecuador to Qatar HE Ivonne A-Baki and Italian Embassy Doha officials Deputy Head of Mission Carlota Colli and Filippo Perzolla. Also present was the PR Manager of Elite Paper Recycling Maryam Zayed who sampled some Filipino dishes.
While the adults feasted on an array of Asian delicacies, the children had a blast during the free cupcake making activity hosted by the WASAHQ Culinary Art, a non-profit organisation on a mission to help Filipino workers in Qatar find their niche in the food industry. Headed by WASAHQ Chairman Alma Barcelina and Chef Cheska Montilla, the session was participated by more than 50 children from across nationalities. The group will host another free cupcake making session on November 8.
“We have experienced some challenges along the way in putting this event together but it was overwhelming support of the Asian communities and other residents that inspired us to carry on. We will reopen the Asian Night Market on October 24 with new look, more stalls and added attractions,” said
DC Event CEO and Managing Director Victor Magnipes.
