To mark the Breast Cancer Awareness Month, The Westin Doha Hotel and Spa, in collaboration with Qatar Cancer Society, will support their ‘Blossom’ campaign with different activities and events taking place in the hotel throughout the month of October.
The main aim of the initiative is to enhance awareness of breast cancer among the associates of the hotel and the local community in Doha, additionally, to raise donation and support the treatment of patients fighting the disease.
This year, an internal awareness session will be led by Qatar Cancer Society along with the social media influencer and cancer survivor Polly Byles, @followyoursunshine on October 14. The goal is to provide accurate information about the disease, explain methods of prevention and importance of early detection and screening.
Also, Polly will share her personal experience with the battle against cancer and its positive effects throughout her whole journey.
In addition, The Westin Doha has organised a healthy dessert making session with the hotel’s pastry chefs on October 21, where women will learn how to make pink vegan desserts and smoothie bowls. The aim of this session is to promote healthy lifestyle habits and highlight how diet can help in preventing cancer and to stress the importance of reducing sugar intake.
Polly Byles (@followyoursunshine) will also attend the event and will share what she encountered during her battle against cancer, the recovery and the positive change on her overall lifestyle.
Commenting on the initiative, Ammar Samad, general manager of The Westin Doha Hotel & Spa, said, “It’s an honor for us to collaborate with Qatar Cancer Society for the second consecutive year. As a wellness brand, it’s one of our core duties to encourage positive and healthy changes within our community.
