THE Department of Protection and Wildlife at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment, on Wednesday held a coordination meeting to discuss Qatar’s national action plan to combat illegal trade in ivory and the progress made in implementing the plan’s provisions. The meeting was attended by a number of officials.
The meeting reviewed the work done since the implementation of the plan and some models in this regard, and discussed various observations on the implementation of the plan with the competent authorities. It was agreed that another meeting would be held in the beginning of December to follow up on the recommendations.
In April, 2018, Qatar developed a national action plan to combat the illegal trade in ivory and other wildlife specimens across its territory. The plan is being implemented at Qatar’s air and sea ports.
