Under the patronage of the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME), the second edition of the book ‘Qatar Achievements on Vocational Safety’ will be launched on April 28, 2020, celebrating the World Day for Safety and Health at Work, the Sogha Advertising & Event Management and Conferences has announced.
The event will be attended by ministers, businessmen and decision-makers from leading local and international companies.
During the ceremony, Excellence Awards will be delivered to local companies that implement the best occupational safety standards.
In addition, safety awards will be presented to companies in various categories, namely, small and medium enterprises, real estate sector companies, oil and gas companies, retail companies and health sector organisations.
In a press statement, the MME said it is supporting occupational safety in various sectors and raising safety awareness among workers to avoid accidents at worksites.
The ministry confirmed its implementation of various programmes and training workshops in the field of safety, security and health, in cooperation with different governmental entities to ensure high level of awareness and commitment to the rules pertaining to safety regulations.
In addition, the ministry reaffirmed that Qatar has made great achievements in all aspects of health, safety and environmental sustainability, providing the best work environment for residents and citizens, and cultivating the culture of a healthy living.
The ministry will not spare any efforts to provide the community with the best levels of safety and healthy life which will affect positively the standards of living in line with Qatar National Vision 2030, the MME said.
Khalifa al Muhanadi, chairman of Sogha Advertising, said the launch of the book is a great opportunity to showcase the vision of the State of Qatar in protecting labour laws and work environment.
“The launch of the book also coincides with the final preparations for hosting 2022 FIFA World Cup as hundreds of thousands of workers are contributing to this major sporting event. Those workers are working in line with international safety standards and occupational safety guidelines mentioned in the book,” he said.
The 1st edition of the book received strong support from corporate companies such as Qatar Rail, Hamad International Airport, UDCC, Al Meera, Qatar petroleum QP, Oryx GTL, Primary Health Care Cooperation and Private Engineering Office.
