An investigation by ‘What is hidden is greatest’ programme on Al Jazeera channel revealed on Sunday that the headquarters of the “beoutQ” piracy channel is located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The investigation confirmed that the “beoutQ” headquarters is located within the headquarters of a media company in the Kairouan district of Riyadh.
The Public Prosecution in Qatar has accused three employees working with “beIN Sport” of helping the Saudi piracy channel to steal “beIN Sport” programmes and violate global transmission rights, according to the programme.
Al Jazeera programme on Sunday also revealed leaked video clips from the secret “beoutQ” headquarters in Saudi.
The investigation pointed out that one of the three persons involved in the fraud had visited Saudi Arabia despite the siege of Qatar without a visa and held a meeting with Maher al Mutarab, one of the accused in the killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, for six hours at Al Salam Palace in Riyadh.
The investigation also uncovered work contracts carried out by companies involved in the piracy of beIN Sport channels and one among them, Shammas, is based in Riyadh.
The film showed documents proving remittances between the director of a company called ‘Selevision’ and the management of Arabsat in order to broadcast “beoutQ” channels.
In view of the increasing international pressure on Riyadh, Saudi Arabia is readying an alternative place in an Arab country in the African continent to continue “beoutQ” piracy, Al Jazeera investigation revealed.
The total sum of the annual contract for the operation of the channels “beoutQ” in Saudi Arabia amounted to about $2,300,000, Al Jazeera revealed.
Qatari authorities last year arrested three employees running sensitive sections in the beIN media group and accused them of colluding with Egyptian and Saudi intelligence authorities to harm the interests of “beIN Sport”.
The main defendant in the beIN case was involved in leaking sensitive information and documents to Egyptian intelligence, it was revealed.
Egyptian businessman Ahmed Abu Hashima, who is close to the regime of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, financed the movements of the three defendants and arranged their meetings in Cairo with Egyptian intelligence officers, the Al Jazeera programme revealed.
During the programme, Attorney General Dr Ali bin Fetais al Marri said international laws must be enforced and states must respect the agreements they sign as they are binding on them. “The piracy of ‘beIN Sport’ is state-sponsored and its aim is political rather than commercial. Whoever thinks we are ‘substandard’ is in an illusionary world,” he added.
