QATAR Charity (QC) has laid the cornerstone for two large projects in Kyrgyzstan -- an integrated orphan village and a multi-service complex -- that will benefit more than 18,000 people, at a total cost of around QR3 million.
The cornerstone-laying ceremony was attended by Charge d’affaires at Qatar’s Embassy in Kyrgyzstan Adel Ahmad al Anzi and a number of local officials including Director of the branch of Qatar Charity in Bishkek Osama al Turabi.
The two projects aim to provide integrated community services in various sectors and contribute to improving the living conditions of poor families and developing appropriate social protection systems in order to reduce their vulnerability to economic and social crises.
The total cost of the centre is estimated at QR1,000,000. It will be built on an area of about 1045 square metre and includes a primary school with 5 classrooms for 250 students, in addition to a health centre that is expected to benefit between 5,000 to 10,000 people in the area.
The complex also includes a sewing workshop, a well with water tank and a mosque.
The complex will contribute significantly to ensuring quality education and promote opportunities for students of both sexes, as well as empower poor families.
Qatar Charity’s orphans’ residential village consists of 30 fully furnished houses benefiting 30 needy families, at a total cost of QR 1,915,000.
