With the commencement of a new academic year, Qatar Finance & Business Academy, in collaboration with Northumbria University Newcastle, hosted a four-day period orientation week to facilitate a positive transition for its new incoming students.
Orientation week signifies the first step towards a successful academic year for new students where they are exposed to the university’s various departments, facilities and faculty.
The students learned about the various student support services provided by the university, creating a healthy relationship between the administration and students throughout their academic journey.
During the orientation week, students had the opportunity to be officially welcomed to QFBA-Northumbria University, in addition to learning about the university’s functions, systems and necessary information.
The students were provided with the chance to ask questions regarding their majors of choice courtesy of QFBA-Northumbria faculty offering detailed insight on the university’s administrative body and offerings.
During the orientation week, the students were also given a tour on the university’s campus facilities, including the classrooms, library, computer labs, medical services, cafeteria and more.
Dr Khalid al Horr, QFBA CEO, said: “We are honoured at Qatar Finance and Business Academy in partnership with Northumbria University to successfully host the orientation week in effort to empower our students. Within the Orientation week’s various activities, new students were introduced to the university, faculty, scientific and research facilities, and various service centres tailored to provide a top educational experience for our students creating a better tomorrow. We wish our student a sincere welcome and continuous success and excellence in their academic endeavours.”
This year, the number of enrolled students in the current academic year at QFBA-Northumbria reached 193 students, among whom 131 are Qataris, representing 67.86 percent of the total student body.
The number of Qatari students enrolled at the university has witnessed a significant increase of 238 percent between this year and the previous year.
Northumbria University is one of the largest public universities in the United Kingdom, with over 35,000 students ranked ninth in the nation by number of bachelor’s degree and higher education graduates. Northumbria has also cemented its footing among the top ten universities in the UK by number of graduates entering professional employment: nine out of 10 Northumbria graduates join the advanced ranks of the workforce within six months of their graduation. The institution also ranks 4th in the nation by number of graduate students who set up their own start-ups.
Currently Qatar Finance and Business Academy in partnership with Northumbria university delivers bachelor’s degrees in Accounting, Finance & Investment Management and International Banking and Finance. In effort to create new horizons for Qatar’s financial services sector, Qatar Finance and Business Academy in partnership with Northumbria University plans to expand its facilities and launch new offerings and degrees furthermore empowering the Qatari youth interested in the financial services industry.
