Qatar Chamber First Vice Chairman Mohamed bin Twar on Thursday discussed ways of enhancing trade and economic cooperation with delegation of an Ukrainian industrialists headed by Head of Representation of the Ukrainian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs in Qatar Mykhailo Lukashev.
The meeting was attended by several Ukrainian and Qatari businessmen.
The two sides discussed opportunities of cooperation between Qatari and Ukrainian private sectors and investment opportunities available in energy, IT and food security. It also discussed enhancing ties between the Chamber and the Ukrainian Union.
Twar said Qatari business community was interested in identifying opportunities available in Ukraine and affirmed that there was a scope for both the sides to strengthen cooperation in many areas.
He also stressed the Chamber’s support for efforts to develop trade cooperation between the two countries and promised the Chamber’s support in inform its members of the investment opportunities available in Ukraine. Twar also assured the Chamber’s preparedness to help Ukrainian investors willing to invest in Qatar and participate in projects being implemented in Qatar.
Lukashev said the private sectors in the two countries could cooperate on a wide range of fields and that there was a joint desire towards deepening trade and economic ties between the two countries.
He also noted that the Ukrainian government had passed several laws that contribute to attracting more foreign investments and adopted measures that help streamline the process of doing business in the country.
He also pointed out that Ukraine was replete with promising investment opportunities for foreign investors and that the government there is interested in enabling the private sector to implement several large-scale projects.
Food security is on the top of priorities of Ukraine, he said, noting that there were many opportunities in energy and IT sectors.
