THE Ministry of Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) of India on Tuesday presented ways of combining the modern and traditional medicine for a healthy life.
The presentation made by AYUSH official Dr DC Katoch focused on health and healthy lifestyle rather than illness.
The event was attended by the Indian Ambassador to Qatar HE P Kumaran and officials from Qatar’s healthcare sector.
The Qatar Council for Healthcare Practitioners of the Ministry of Public Health approved the practice of complementary forms of medicine such as Ayurveda, homeopathy, acupuncture, hiccupping, chiropractic and hijama in 2016.
Speaking at the event, the Indian ambassador expressed his happiness over the event that paves way for future collaborations in the medical and healthcare field between Qatar and India.
Dr Katoch presented the plans and achievements of AYUSH, highlighting the insurance coverage provided by it for a large section of people.
“The national health policy has been updated several times in the recent past, with the latest in 2017. Now, we are focusing on quality control,” informed Dr Katoch.
Speaking to Qatar Tribune, Dr Katoch said, “The community here is very welcoming and I know it won’t be difficult for them to adopt Yoga as a way of life.”
At the end of the presentation, Dr Katoch expressed his happiness over being in Doha to share AYUSH’s latest accomplishments and said he looked forward to more collaborations with Qatar in the future.
