Qatar Chamber (QC) has participated in a meeting between Arab and Turkish chambers, as well as the board of directors’ meeting of the Arab-Turkish Chamber of Commerce held in Antalya.
The meetings’ objective was to review ways of promote and develop Turkish-Arab economic and trade relations.
QC’s Second Vice Chairman Rashid bin Hamad al Athba and QC Board Member attended the meetings. They were presided over by the President of the Union of Turkish Chambers and Commodity Exchanges Rifat Hisarcikli Oglu in the presence of a number of Arab chambers officials and representatives.
In a press statement, Rashid al Athba said the two meetings focused on means of enhancing economic and trade relations between Arab countries and Turkey. It also stressed the importance of promoting ties between the two sides in trade, industry and investment sectors, he added.
Athba noted that trade between Arab countries and Turkey was still below aspirations despite the huge potential each side has.
“The annual trade volume between the two sides has reached $50 billion. This is the result of strengthening cooperation between the private sectors of the two sides,” he added.
Athba said Qatar-Turkey trade grew by 85 percent from $1.3 billion in 2017 to $2.4 billion in 2018. This reflects their robust trade and economic relations, he added.
