Joshua Zamora of the famous Filipino dance group, The Manoeuvres, and television actress and dancer Jopay Paguia will lead the Glow Zumba event at The Westin Doha Hotel & Spa on September 14 from 5:30pm to 7pm.
The hour-and-a-half fitness event is among the highlights of the three-day Filipino community gathering and Filipino Food Festival titled Kulinarya Qatar 2016 to be held from September 13.
The programme is spearheaded by the United Filipino Entrepreneurs in Qatar (UFEQ) led by Layla Bernal under the guidance of Philippine Embassy Doha.
Zamora, who is a licensed Zumba instructor, and his wife Paguia will be joined by about 200 participants in the exclusive Zumba event. Advance ticket reservation is required for those who are interested in dancing with the celebrities.
Proceeds from the event will be donated to the distressed Filipino workers in Qatar.
Doha-based licensed Zumba instructors will also take the centre stage during the programme. The list of performers includes Coolman Tito, Tachi Gonzalez, Eddy Santiago and Marvin Abaredes.
"This special programme is a ticketed event and limited reservations are required to get into the 'Zumba Pit' designed for Zumba enthusiasts and aficionados who will enjoy the fitness activity in style. They are expected to sweat it out through electrifying Zumba music specially arranged by the husband and wife celebrity tandem. The activity is organised by the Health and Fitness Committee of the organising team in collaboration with Beats and Bytes Dancer," said Rocky Lumicao of the Kulinarya Qatar 2016 Core Team.
About 12 Filipino restaurants will be showcased in the three-day major Filipino gathering that will coincide with the celebration of Eid al Adha. The featured restaurants include big names in the Philippine food industry with branches in Qatar as well as several restaurants owned by Doha-based Filipino entrepreneurs.
Aside from the ood festival and Zumba programme, the family event will also feature health and fitness talks, cooking competition for children and adults and fruit carving contests.
