EDUCATION will remain the primary investment of the State of Qatar, given the return it gives, Minister of Education and Higher Education HE Dr Mohammed bin Abdulwahed al Hammadi said on Wednesday.
Speaking during the annual reception ceremony held for new Qatari teachers, Hammadi praised them for joining the profession, stressing that it is one of the main pillars of Qatar’s progress.
The minister said the quality of education would remain the responsibility of all teachers in the country, stressing they have a great responsibility in preparing strong cadres that can provide quality education.
Hammadi said the 2019-2020 academic year would see 219 teachers from Qatar joining public schools. The ministry, through its ‘Tomouh’ programme, sends students to the College of Education at Qatar University.
A total of 511 students joined the programme, including 420 Qataris and 91 residents who will all play a part in providing the educational system with teachers. He said the ministry is working on attracting the College of Education graduates outside of its programme. The ministry is also cooperating with the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour, and Social Affairs to attract students from other colleges in Qatar University such as the College of Arts and Sciences.
He stressed that the Ministry of Education and Higher Education is doing its utmost to provide an inspiring educational environment.
