BEDAYA Center for Entrepreneurship and Career Development (Bedaya Center), a joint initiative by Qatar Development Bank and Silatech, recently honoured 120 students in the age group of 16-24 years who took part in its annual summer camp.
The students were honoured during the closing ceremony of the 2019 edition of the summer camp held at the Wyndham Doha West Bay Hotel. During the ceremony, the best 10 projects submitted during the summer camp were selected and the jury selected the top three ideas.
QParts, a project submitted by Ibrahim Ahmed and Shehab Mohammed, was named the winner. The project aims to develop automotive service centres with the objective to facilitate the search for spare parts and provide a better-quality service.
The second position was bagged by Sheikha al Muhanadi and Loulwa al Jassem for their project ‘The Universe’. This project aims to increase awareness of astronomy and galaxies through educational workshops, as well as to create an integrated entertainment city related to astronomy in future.
‘Easyshop’, a project submitted by Mosaab Abdel Rahman and Moataman Jamal won the third place. The project aims to facilitate e-procurement for students who do not have bank cards and want to buy in cash.
The three winners will receive further support from Bedaya Center and will be showcased in all events and bazars that will be held by the centre. In addition, Bedaya Center will promote the projects free of charge. Moreover, the winners also walked away with free cruise trips provided by Venice Yachts.
On this occasion, Reem al Sowaidi, general manager of Bedaya Center, said: “We are pleased to see a significant growth in the number of participants in the Bedaya Center annual summer camp, which is increasing in popularity year after year. Our aim is to instill the spirit of leadership in our youth, who are the foundation of the future.
“The summer camp provided an opportunity for the participants to engage with a group of successful entrepreneurs who have excelled in their own projects or brands. The participants also took part in many activities, events and leisure trips during the camp that enriched their experience,” she added.
