The Qatar Central Bank (QCB) has issued treasury bills (T-bills) for three, six and nine months for August 2019, with a value of QR600 million.
According to a statement issued on QCB’s website, the treasury bills are distributed as follows: QR300 million for three months at an interest rate of 1.98%, QR200 million for six months at an interest rate of 2.09 percent, and QR100 million for nine months at an interest rate of 2.11%.
QCB’s issuance of the T-bills comes within the framework of its efforts to develop the monetary policy in Qatar and increase its effectiveness and to strengthen the banking and financial system, as well as to activate the tools available for the open market operations as one of the monetary policy tools, and as an implementation of the mechanism of coordination between financial and monetary policies.
The issuance is also part of a series of issues executed by QCB on behalf of the Government of Qatar and in accordance with the schedule prepared by both QCB and the Ministry of Finance. T- bills are issued through auction for banks operating in Qatar.
