About 43 teams are taking part in the 5th season of SportzONE Summer League, which opened at the Qatar Volleyball Association on Friday. 
The league running for 14 weeks is aimed at further promoting volleyball which is one of the most popular sports among Filipinos. It features teams mainly from the Filipino community and other nationalities competing in four categories.
Commenting on the event, Rey Eusebio of SportzONe, said, “Recreational and community leagues like this strengthen volleyball in Qatar by involving expats to express their passion for the sport. In turn, it helps not only in developing volleyball, it also promotes healthy and rewarding lifestyle in the state.”
Eusebio led the grand opening of the tournament which was attended by members of the Filipino community and other volleyball enthusiasts. The opening ceremony kicked off with a parade of teams wearing their colourful uniforms. It also featured a presentation of muse wherein Samantha Jai was named as the league’s Best Muse. While the team of Calle Otso was awarded Best in Uniform.
