Colombo: Sri Lankan detectives Thursday arrested the chief executive at the police watchdog over his alleged involvement in a multi-million dollar gun-running racket and sought international help to trace four other suspects. Saman Dissanayake, the secretary and the chief executive officer of the National Police Commission, was taken into custody at a state hospital, police spokesman Ruwan Gunasekera said. He said another key suspect, Damayanthi Jayaratne is believed to have fled the country along with 3 other suspects. (AFP)
