Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has launched a charity project to support long-stay patients, older persons, and persons with special needs at Rumailah Hospital under its Patient Support Fund.
With funding from Vodafone Qatar, QRCS procured 10 physiotherapy equipment for Rumailah Hospital, to create a medical and physical rehabilitation room with a capacity of 60 patients per month.
The supplies will enhance the morale of the patients, as well as facilitate the healing process, both in terms of effectiveness and duration.
Najat A al Haidous, head of Social Care at QRCS, said the long-stay and permanent-stay patients at Rumailah Hospital suffered joint stiffness and bedsores because of spending too long time in bed without being able to exercise or do any sort of activity.
Haidous stressed the importance of sports for both patients and healthy persons. “The purpose of this project is to boost the patients’ self-confidence, attitude, and energy. This will help them overcome the stress of being at hospital for a long time, accelerate the treatment, and regain their fitness,” said Haidous.
She thanked Vodafone Qatar for contributing to this charity project and urged institutions and individuals to support the patients and medical facilities, through donating to QRCS’s Patient Support Fund.
