Minister of State for Middle East Affairs of the UK, Dr Andrew Murrison has praised the close ties between Qatar and his country in various fields.
“I was pleased to attend the fifth meeting of the Qatar-UK Sharaka bilateral dialogue, which brought together in the UK a close partnership based on deep historical ties and dynamic contemporary relationships,” Murrison said in a statement.
“The open and active dialogue between the two countries demonstrated once again the clear importance of the friendship between the UK and Qatar and the strengthening of their cooperation in many fields,” the British minister said. The existing partnership between the two countries in the fields of education, trade and investment are of great importance to the economies of both countries and close security and diplomatic cooperation would make the two countries and the region safer, he said.
Murrison reiterated the UK’s commitment to supporting Qatar in achieving its ambitious 2030 National Vision and delivering a successful, safe and exciting World Cup in 2022, adding that the two countries’ leaders are in agreement to further strengthen relations in the area of economic prosperity and social development.
In conclusion, the British minister stressed that the two sides will honour what had been achieved, adding that the UK looks forward to working with Qatar on many bilateral and regional agendas of importance.
The fifth meeting of the Qatar-UK Sharaka bilateral dialogue took place in London on Thursday. The meeting was co-chaired by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs HE Sultan bin Saadal Muraikhi and Dr Andrew Murrison.
