In a bid to support Qatari entrepreneurs with innovative business ideas, Minister of Commerce and Industry HE Ali bin Ahmed
al Kuwari awarded eight winners of Qatar National Business Competition (Al Fikra) for 2019 on Tuesday.
An initiative of Qatar Development Bank, Al Fikra is an educational and coaching programme designed for Qatari-led start-ups and entrepreneurs, enabling them to develop business ideas that can be turned into successful private value-adding businesses.
Out of the 560 applications received for the seventh edition of Al Fikra competition, eight were awarded special prizes, while 83 received training courses by professors from Qatar University, Carnegie Mellon and the North Atlantic College, as well as trainers in the field of entrepreneurship.
All the eight winners will receive prizes and services worth QR500,000 from QDB to convert their ideas into successful businesses.
Al Fikra 2019 was sponsored by Sasol as a strategic partner and Qatar National Bank (QNB) as platinum sponsor;
