The Turkish Red Crescent (K?z?lay) has honoured Qatar Charity (QC) for its efforts in supporting K?z?lay’s relief initiatives, achieving its humanitarian goals and in appreciation of the partnership between the two parties.
Faisal Rashid al Fehaida, Assistant to CEO in the International Operations and Partnerships Sector at Qatar Charity, received the felicitation during K?z?lay’s 151st anniversary celebrations held in Istanbul. It was attended by its president Dr Karam Kink, the Minister of Health Dr Farahuddin Khoja and the head of religious affairs Dr Ali Erbash.
Receiving the honour, Fehaid said the partnership between Qatar Charity and the Turkish Red Crescent in the implementation of many relief and humanitarian projects was significant.
“We are honoured to sign strategic agreements with the Turkish Red Crescent in implementing several projects, a large number of which strives to benefit Syrian refugees,” Fehaida said in a press statement, emphasizing that cooperation would continue and grow in the coming days.
At the anniversary celebrations held at the Istanbul Convention and Exhibition Centre, awards were distributed to both Turkish and foreign donors.
Qatar Charity signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Turkish Red Crescent in December 2016.
It includes cooperation in various humanitarian fields inside and outside Turkey, focusing on emergency response, shelter, health, disaster preparedness, water, sanitation, food security and livelihoods.
Since the signing of the MoU, cooperation between the two agencies has increased. Among the significant projects supported by Qatar Charity in cooperation with the Turkish Red Crescent is the community centre project in a city near Istanbul. In January, an agreement was signed to support the centre for a year.
