A team of 12 students from DPS-Modern Indian School took part in a Model United Nations (MUN) conference held in New York recently. It is officially known as Global Classroom International (GCI) High School MUN. The school’s MUN coordinator Jolly Sabu has also accompanied the students.
Global Classrooms International Model United Nations is a programme that aims to provide knowledge and skills based training for students in areas including conflict resolution, coalition building, communications, and open debate.
The conference was organized in Grand Hyatt, Manhattan, New York by Lebanese American University (LAU) in partnership with the United Nations Association of the United States of America (UNA-USA).
The MUN programme gave the young delegates the opportunity to hone their skills, leadership qualities as well as their aptitude to become responsible ambassadors of the UN member nations.
The conference gave the MUNers the international exposure to diplomacy, international relations and about the UN itself, with the hope of inspiring and motivating the younger generations to become capable leaders of the future.
More than 1,500 students from schools and universities all around the world participated in the conference.
