Two faculty members of the DPS Modern Indian School (DPS-MIS) have completed the third and advanced phase of a workshop series that provided training to teachers on how to better judge school debates and other similar programmes.
Steffi Francis and Deepa Chakraborty attended the two-day advanced workshop at HBKU Student Centre’s QatarDebate Classroom on April 15 to 17, after completing the beginners and intermediate legs of the workshop.
Arena from Malaysia served as the resource person for the workshop, which focused on holistic adjudication during a debate competition.
“All the trainees enjoyed an interactive and interesting session where they not only learned (more) about adjudicating but also debating,” a statement from the school said.
“The objectives of this training were to identify common adjudication errors, understand how to mark speeches by looking at argumentation, refutation, style, strategy and POIs. It even emphasized the methodology of adjudication by alternatives, chairing, note-taking, scoring, panel discussion, and oral adjudication,” it added.
The interactive training session was enriching and benefitted the teachers, the statement said.
