Exclusive economic zones of Qatar are measured from the baseline of its regional sea on the mainland shores of Qatar and the shores of islands that belong to it, and extend 200 nautical miles or to the borders of the territorial waters of the neighbouring countries in accordance with bilateral agreements signed between those countries, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr Ahmed bin Hassan al Hammadi said in a statement.
He said, “Qatar exercises full sovereign rights over the natural resources found in its exclusive economic zones in terms of exploration, use, management, and development of these resources and maintaining them.”
Qatar also has full sovereignty over the zone for conducting scientific research, establishing marine facilities, man-made islands, and taking the necessary measures to protect the marine environment, the statement added. page 8
