QATAR’S healthcare services are are affordable and easily accessible to the entire population regardless of the area one lives in or their social status in the community, says Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) Consultant of Internal Medicine Dr Rania Mohamed El Hassan El Tahir.
“The healthcare services are easy to access by each individual in the community, and are still expanding. We have new health centres opening every few months in different areas of Qatar. The Emergency Department treats hundreds of patients offering all kinds of diagnostic tests and consultation for free. And if at all they are required to pay, the amount is minimal as long as they have a valid health card,” Dr Tahir said.
According to her, even those who donot have health cardsare helped by social services and management coordinators.
“They arrange issuance of health cardsto them”, Dr Tahir said, adding that that a majority of such patients are labourers.”
