Qatar committed to protect human rights, says envoy

Qatar is committed to promote and protect human rights, a Qatari diplomat has said. In statement at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Qatar’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador HE Sheikha Alia Ahmed bin Saif al Thani said Qatar has spared no effort in improving and developing labor laws, improving living standards and providing a decent life for workers. She reiterated Qatar’s keenness to deal with this issue with transparency that reflects its commitment to international labour standards and expatriate labor who contributed to the process of construction and development witnessed by the state.
