Bulgaria President Rumen Radev said on Thursday that his country’s political ties with Qatar are strong and the two sides are looking to build on those ties in the economic areas as well.
In a speech at the opening of the Qatari-Bulgarian business forum, Radev called for boosting Qatari investments in his country.
He said Qatar, which has considerable investment resources, has sought to invest in major international countries and companies with proven track record in the market. However, he pointed out that the growth rate of GDP in those countries ranged from 1 to 2 per cent, while Bulgaria’s GDP growth is currently 4 percent.
In view of that, both Qatari and Bulgaria should give priority to Qatari investments.
He said Bulgaria has more than 200 companies producing spare parts for major international car companies in which Qatar can invest.
The Bulgarian president called on Qatari businessmen to explore opportunities for cooperation with the 29 Bulgarian companies that are currently visiting Doha now. He added that the Bulgarian business sector was highly flexible and innovative.
Minister of Commerce and Industry HE Ali bin Ahmed al Kuwari said the last year’s forum in Bulgaria provided an was an important platform to explore the investment opportunities in the areas that serve the interests of both countries. (QNA) page 11
