Minister of Finance HE Ali Shareef al Emadi has inaugurated The Conrad Washington, DC., one of the Qatari Diar projects in Washington on Wednesday.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Qatari Diar Chairman Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa al Thani, Qatari Diar CEO Abdullah bin Hamad al Attiyah, Ambassador of Qatar to US HE Sheikh Meshaal bin Hamad al Thani, Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser, and several prominent figures from US.
The project is part of the Qatari company’s global expansion that has reached more than 24 countries, and was carried out in partnership with Hines Interests Limited Partnership.
The 370-room luxury hotel, located at CityCenterDC, the 10-acre landmark, mixed-use development located in the heart of the nations capital, has a 62,000 square feet of large-format retail space.
The hotel will be the newest property in the Conrad Hotels & Resorts luxury brand portfolio operated by Hilton Worldwide.
Sheikh Khalid hailed the completion of the project and thanked the company’s strategic partner and all the workers on the project for their efforts.
The Qatari Diar CEO said the company’s new strategy is focused on speeding up the construction phase in all its projects under development.
He added that the company’s achievements were all a result of continues work to implement the strategy in order to get the best real estate investment returns in the world.
Bowser said the US capital attracts 20 million visitors every year and is one of the most prominent political and business destinations in the world.
The inauguration of Conrad Hotel is another remarkable addition to the city’s facilities and services, she added.
The project is strategically located as it is a 14 minute drive from Ronald Reagan Washington International Airport, 40 minutes from Dulles International Airport, 47 minutes from Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, and nine minutes from Union Station.
