The Academic Bridge Program (ABP), under the umbrella of the Pre-University Education, a member of Qatar Foundation, organised the ‘All Qatar Universities Fair’, attended by local governmental companies and organisations.
The one-day fair was attended by 500 male and female students from Qatari high schools and ABP students.
The fair aims to provide students with the opportunity to explore the educational and professional options available within Qatar and facilitate communication with the companies and the Universities.
Inaugurating the fair, Dr Bryan Lewallen, ABP director, said: “We are proud to be the main sponsor of this fair because it gives students the opportunity to become familiar with the possible academic and professional options, and to communicate with their peers and with the participating organisations.
“We, at the Academic Bridge Program, work to improve the students’ skills in English, Math, Science and Computer Studies, in addition to providing some activities and events that assist in building and developing the personal skills of students in order to increase their opportunities for being admitted into any university at Education City or any distinguished university abroad.”
Abdulaziz al Qattan, an ABP student, said: “I was really amazed at the number of universities and organisations that participated in the fair. Many students face some difficulties in gaining admission into universities and foundations that grant scholarships. Therefore, what the Academic Bridge Program has achieved by gathering these various universities and governmental organisations under the same roof provides a good opportunity for the students to save time.”
Participants in the fair included the Academic Bridge Program, QF member Hamad Bin Khalifa University, and QF partner universities Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, Georgetown University in Qatar, Northwestern University in Qatar, Texas A&M University at Qatar, Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar, Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar.
Other participating universities included the University of Aberdeen in Qatar, City College in Qatar, Community College of Qatar, Northumbria University in Qatar, Qatar Aeronautical College, Qatar University, College of the North Atlantic -Qatar, Stenden University in Qatar and University of Calgary in Qatar.
Some of the companies and governmental organisations at the fair were Hamad Medical Corporation, Qatar Airways, QF member Qatar Career Development Center, Qatar National Bank and Qatar Petroleum.
