After the Cabinet approved a draft law allowing expatriates to own properties in certain areas of Qatar, the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) is working on a plan to launch a real estate portal soon to help develop the real estate market and regulate prices.
The real estate portal will be available to the public, real estate offices and intermediaries officially registered with the ministry to reveal the details of properties that are for sale. The photos of the properties and land can be uploaded.
The ministry launched a demo portal on its website for a limited period before the official launch.
The portal has a section for buy and sale of real estate property. The ministry has also established a section of registered real estate offices and another for important real estate laws.
Citizens or offices can access the portal through their account, which they will create on a Qatar e-Government Portal – Hukoomi website, which will be protected against piracy.
The real estate portal will also be available to the public, real estate offices and brokers to announce properties for sale. Property prices and market trends will be tracked.
According to sources, the Ministry of Justice’s supervision of the portal will enable it to organise operations, sales and purchase in accordance with legal frameworks and legislative instruments.
The portal will be available to all offices approved by the Ministry of Justice to announce the real estate and land it wishes to sell on the portal. The MoJ will also provide an opportunity to the public to communicate with the offices through the portal. Those interested from outside Qatar will also be able to access the real estate market, trading and supply.
The portal is part of the e-government strategy that aims to make real estate registration and documentation easier.
The project aims at achieving a number of strategic objectives which are reflected in improving Qatar’s ranking in competitive business reports, supporting the Qatari economy to become an innovation-based economy and enabling the real estate registration and authentication departments to deliver their services
efficiently.
