Doha
The work on the Industrial Area road, which extends from the intersection of the E-Ring Road to the intersection of the Industrial Road east (known as Al Watan intersection), will be completed in the second quarter (Q2) of 2019, according to an official source at the Public Works Authority (Ashghal).
The road is currently in the final stages of development, especially with regard to intelligent transport system and lighting for intersections and tunnels.
The source said the road will accommodate 20,000 vehicles per hour and shorten the journey time by about 70 percent.
The road will be one of the most important connecting the southern and western regions of the country with the northern region. It will be the link between the Industrial Zone and Doha and it will also be an alternative route for Salwa Road.
The road will ensure smooth traffic flow to the West Doha, especially Ain Khalid, Umm Al Senaim, Abu Hamour and Mesaimeer, as well as towards Villaggio, Qatar Mall, Qatar Foundation, Qatar University, Al Rayyan Stadium, Sidra Hospital, Al Wajba Health Center and Muaither Health Center
The 12.5 km-long road will have five multi-level intersections with four lanes in each direction and pedestrian and bicycle paths.
