Vice-President of the ‘A Flower Each Spring’ programme Khalid al Shuaibi has urged Qatar Postal Services Company (Qatar Post) to issue stamps with the images of Qatari plants as it would help raise people’s awareness of Qatari environment and also send a strong message about the need for environmental protection.
‘A Flower Each Spring’ programme hosted at its headquarters at Ras Matbakh in Al Khor area a number of employees of Qatar Post to celebrate ‘Al-Jithjath’ plant, a Qatari plant, which has also been chosen as the slogan for this spring.
During the event, the participants learned about the plant’s characteristics, the places where it grows in Qatar and its various benefits. The Environment Department also stressed the importance of preserving the environment and working on the development of natural resources without spoiling it in order to benefit from them.
The department reiterated its commitment to working towards developing a healthy and beautiful environment for current and future generations.
Talking about the 21-year-old ‘A Flower Each Spring programme’, Shuaibi said it has succeeded in introducing a sizeable section of youths and adults in Qatar to Qatari plants and their characteristics and how to take care of them.
He called on all ministries and private and public companies to join the programme to help spread the message of environmental preservation.
Qatar Post’s representative Khalid al Ajlan stressed Qatar Post’s keenness to participate in all major events of the State by adopting stamps with the images of the events and to raise awareness about them.
Qatari plants, especially the ones celebrated by the programme each year, are worthy of attention, he said, pointing out that a stamp on Al Shafallah flower has already been released.
