Abdul Salam Shkodra, deputy interior minister of Kosovo, paid a visit to Qatar Charity’s (QC) office in Pristina, Kosovo, and heaped praise on the charity for its significant efforts in the field of humanitarian work.
During the visit, the minister was accompanied by the Ambassador of Qatar to Albania and Kosovo HE Ali bin Hamad al Marri.
“Qatar has always supported the Kosovar people,” the minister said, adding that QC’s initiatives worth more than 18 million euros were highly commendable.
The minister thanked the government and people of Qatar for their support to Kosovo during the country’s difficult times.
He applauded QC for its activities, qualitative projects and outstanding performance, especially in the field of education through the Qatar Training Center. He also expressed his happiness at its support for the most needy and the training opportunities it provides for the beneficiaries to empower them.
Ambassador Marri expressed his pleasure over visiting QC’s office and learning more about its activities and projects in support of the Kosovar people. “Qatar Charity is doing an outstanding work and I am confident it will continue such activities and will further expand the area of its work in the coming period,” Marri added.
Marri thanked Sheikh Hamad bin Nasser bin Jassim al Thani, board chairman of QC, and its CEO Yousuf bin Ahmed al Kuwari for their efforts in helping the Kosovar people.
During the visit, a documentary film on Qatar was played. Mahmoud Abbas Shaker, director of QC’s office in Kosovo, gave a detailed explanation about the activities and projects implemented by the charity in Kosovo.
QC has been implementing several projects in Kosovo to support the needy, especially orphans, persons with special needs and low-income families. The number of people sponsored by the charity has increased to more than 2,900 persons, who receive various health, education and social services from it.
So far, more than 4,500 students have graduated from the Qatar Training Center established by QC in Pristina as a qualitative educational and training project.
Moreover, QC implemented over 350 income-generating projects and 35 home projects, while the number of projects implemented in the field of water and sanitation reached more than 500.
