Thousands of beneficiaries of the project funded by the Qatari Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza will start work from Sunday.
This was announced by United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) on Thursday.
In an interview with Qatar News Agency (QNA), Adnan Abu Hassan, the media advisor of the UN agency, said the operation targeted 6,400 refugees for periods ranging from three to nine months until $13 million fund allocated to them was exhausted.
He said UNRWA will be “contacting the beneficiaries in stages, expressing the hope that the signing of contracts and the operation of 2,000 refugees will continue until the end of this month.”
He said the signing of contracts will include many sectors such as health, education and municipalities.
He pointed out that UNRWA has more than 260,000 applications for temporary work opportunities, stressing that the selection process is subject to specific criteria.
