Qatar’s non-oil exports reached QR1.6 billion in January 2019, recording a decrease of 23 percent compared to QR2.1 billion for the corresponding month last year, according to data published by Qatar Chamber on Saturday.
The monthly report of the Qatar Chamber on foreign trade for the private sector said 2,883 certificates of origin were issued in January, including 2,709 documented and 174 online.
The report said Qatar issued 2,629 general model certificates, 106 unified certificates for the GCC countries (industrial), 125 unified Arab certificates of origin and 23 certificates of origin for
preferences.
The report pointed to the trend of non-oil exports to 55 countries in January 2019, with 11 Arab countries, including the GCC countries and 15 European countries including Turkey and 15 Asian countries excluding the Arab countries and 12 African countries excluding the Arab countries and two North American countries.
According to the report, Oman topped the list of non-oil exporting countries in January 2019 with total exports of QR625.73 million, representing 38.69 percent of the total value of non-oil exports during the month, followed by Turkey QR130.45 million (8.06 percent), Singapore QR126.56 million (7.83 percent) and Germany QR104.65 million (6.47 percent), and India QR92.71 million (5.74 percent) of the total value of non-oil exports in January.
This was followed by France, Bangladesh, Sweden, Indonesia and China. The first ten countries accounted for 87.49 percent of the total non-oil exports in January, Qatar Chamber data shows.
On the other hand, the group of GCC countries (Oman and Kuwait) topped the blocs and the economic groups receiving the Qatari non-oil exports in January 2019 with total exports amounting to QR636.73 million, followed by the group of Asian countries excluding Arab countries with exports touching QR473.25 million.
The group of European countries including Turkey came in the third place with total exports amounting to QR417.17 million , followed by the group of Arab countries, excluding the GCC countries with total value of exports reaching QR64.86 million , followed by the African countries excluding Arab and North America with varying values.
