The upcoming Doha visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin will further strengthen the Qatari-Russian relations that have witnessed a huge leap forward in recent years, Russia’s Ambassador to Doha HE Noor Mohammad Khulouf has said.In an interview with ‘Russia Today’, the ambassador attributed the deepening bonhomie to mutual trust.
He hailed the diplomatic channels that facilitate adequate communication on regional and international developments of common concern.
The bilateral political dialogue, aided by constant contacts between the foreign ministries of the two countries, seeks to achieve the common goal of maintaining peace and stability in the region and the world, he noted.
The dialogue deals with a number of regional issues, including peace in the Middle East and political settlement in Afghanistan, he said.
On the Gulf crisis, the ambassador reaffirmed Russia’s position. “Moscow calls for resolving differences through negotiations and taking into consideration the mutual interests of all involved,” he said.
It also calls for showing patience and taking a constructive stance to find a solution acceptable to all, he said, adding: “Russia fully supports the mediation efforts of Kuwait and other countries.”
On joint cooperation in the field of trade, Khulouf said the two countries have projects for the development of gas. Since 2013, Gazprom has been working successfully to consolidate relations, exploring new ways and directions for joint action, he added.
