One of Qatar’s most promising riders Mubarak Yousuf al Rumaihi stamped his class and authority again at Qatar Equestrian Federation’s outdoor arena on Thursday as he rode his trusted chestnut gelding Vivaldi K to victory in the Big Tour class on the opening day of HH The Amir’s Sword Championship 2019.
Rumaihi, who has been topping the timesheets at this venue in various legs of Hathab – the National equestrian series – and also international meets, strode out in style in the Table C, FEI Art. 239, 140/150cm class of Big Tour and returned a flawless and fastest routine in 67.15secs to emerge as the winner ahead of Saeed Nasser al Qadi (69.01secs) on Daydreamer EC in a field of 13 riders.
Nasser al Ghazali on Colibri 19 finished third clocking 70.12secs in his flawless show.
A total of 74 riders were on show on the first day of the three-day long prestigious championship with 39 battling for the top honours in the Small Tour.
Beating the big field was Khalifa Abdulla al Khaldi astride Dusty. The combine cleared fences in the 110/120cm event with ease and finesse returning the best time of 58.29secs.
Hussain Saeed Haidan on Belucci Van ‘T Vleminkhof and Mohammed al Ghazali, riding Maradonna 25, took the other two places on the podium respectively.
The Medium Tour with obstacles at a height of 125/135cm was won by Khalid Hamad al Attiya on Viking D. He clocked a faultless 63.55 secs. Mohammed Khalifa al Baker on Arselina and Mohammed Saeed Haidan on Ziezo finished second and third.
On Friday, apart from the Small Tour and Big Tour competition there will be contests for Future Riders and dressage events.
