A new specialised medical care centre is expected to welcome its first patients in June, according to officials.
The Daam Specialised Care Center (Enaya 3) will provide services to patients who require long-term inpatient medical treatment.
The 68-bed facility, which will join Hamad Medical Corporation’s existing Enaya Specialised Care Centers, is funded by Sports and Social Activities Support Fund (Daam).
“We are hoping that it is going to welcome its first patients in the second half of this year. The construction will be finished by the middle of next month, then we need a few weeks for final commissioning. We are hoping to start receiving patients from June onwards,” HMC Executive Director of Project Management and Construction Naim Younis told Qatar Tribune.
Though the facility will welcome anyone who needs long-term care regardless of age, it will basically target the elderly. “The younger ones have another facility in Al Wakra, which is under construction. Currently, anyone can be admitted there regardless of age.”
Younis said the 4-storey facility has 44 private rooms and the ground floor is dedicated for the services such as the utilities.
In addition, it has a 40-metre long bridge which connects the facility with Enaya 2. “Enaya 1 and 2 are connected with a bridge and therefore the three facilities will be connected.”
About future plans of the Daam Fund, Younis said, “We are requesting them to give us support to do the outdoor gardens for the patients, indoor air-conditioned garden and establish a day care centre.”
Daam Fund Manager of Programmes Ahmad Salem al Ali said they started renovating the building, which was a residential unit, about one year ago. “This project is fully funded by Daam Fund. This is not the first project between Daam Fund and HMC. We have had many great projects before such as the CyberKnife project, special care unit for the newborns and some other projects to come in the next few years.”
