Qatar Charity (QC), with generous support of the benefactors in Qatar, has started implementing seven new emergency relief projects to provide winter assistance to more than 226,000 Syrian refugees in Lebanon.
These projects are being implemented by QC at an estimated cost of nearly QR8mn as part of its ‘Arsal Relief’ campaign for the Syrian refugees in Lebanon.
QC’s assistance includes distribution of blankets and heating material (diesel), winter clothes, food to thousands of needy families in camps, and rehabilitation of uninhabitable tents in the Arsal camps.
The assistance also includes provision of medical services to mothers, children and the elderly, sending a mobile clinic to remote and snow-covered areas, and provision of children’s medicines to the Arsal Medical Center.
QC’s medical aid also involves providing healthcare services for 700 refugees, ensuring medicines and treatment for 3,000 Syrian refugee patients, and medical campaigns.
One of the projects seeks to provide relief aid to the families of Syrian refugee orphans in Beqaa, Arsal, Akkar and Tripoli, for the benefit 2,120 families at a total cost of QR1mn.
The aid includes basic food, heating fuel and treatment to help families cope with the winter.
During the distribution of assistance, emphasis will be placed on refugees in the camps, which are badly affected by the storm, and on the most vulnerable and needy families.
Some 80,000 Syrian refugees in Arsal are the worst hit by the blizzard, which has covered their tents with snow. The camps are facing a severe shortage of basic life necessities, especially heating materials.
In light of the continued suffering of the Syrian refugees in the camps under the difficult economic and social conditions, QC has urged all philanthropists in Qatar to continue their support to the ‘Arsal Relief’ campaign.
Donations towards the campaign can be made through QC’s website (Qch.qa/sos) and mobile application. Donors can also request for a ‘home collector’ service through QC’s app (Qch.qa/app) or dial the charity’s hotline, 44667711, to make their contributions.
Mobile donations can also be made. To donate QR100, QR200 and QR500, one can send an SMS with code (SYH) to 92642, 92015, and 92428, respectively.
