Cairo: Syria’s readmission into the Arab League is “inevitable,” the head of the pan-Arab organization said, as countries in the region show a growing willingness to reconcile with the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. Months after the eruption of Syria’s conflict in 2011, the Arab League suspended Damascus to protest the al-Assad forces’ ruthless crackdown on opposition demonstrations. “Syria’s return to the Arab League is subjected to Arab consensus, which does not mean unanimity,” Ahmed Abul Gheit said in an interview with private Egyptian broadcaster DMC that aired late Tuesday.
