THE fifth meeting of the joint technical committee between the State of Qatar and the Republic of India on the issues of labour and manpower concluded on Tuesday.
The two-day meeting, which was held on the basis of the labour agreement signed between the two countries, was co-chaired by Assistant Undersecretary for Labour Affairs at Qatar’s Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs Mohammed Hassan al Obaidli and Joint Secretary for Overseas Indian Affairs at the Indian Ministry of External Affairs Manish Gupta.
The meeting discussed the ways to promote bilateral relations in the field of labour between the two countries, the latest developments and reforms in Qatar, and the ways of developing the recruitment procedures of Indian workers in Qatar, especially technical and specialised employment as well as domestic labour.
The Indian delegation praised the developments in Qatar in all fields as well as the new labour laws and reforms, which they stressed would contribute to preserving the rights of all parties and enhancing confidence in the work environment in Qatar, because the reforms protect workers.
