Mowasalat’s Karwa Driving School (KDS) has received ISO 9001:2015 certification in quality management and Diamond Driver Training Center accreditation by the International Association for Driver Education (IVV) in the UK.
KDS is the only driver training centre in Qatar to be accredited with the highest approval of ‘Diamond level’ in defensive driving by the IVV, Mowasalat has said in a press statement.
According to a Mowasalat official, the ISO certification is a result of KDS’ continuous efforts to upgrade its standards in providing the drivers with technical training and road safety education. “The ISO certification manifests our commitment to ensuring quality training for all our customers,” the official added.
KDS’ certification process, conducted in partnership with Bureau Veritas Certification, included interviews with the personnel and appraisal of departmental procedures, including driver training operations, fleet management, training material development, handling of customer complaints, finance and driver enrolment process.
Diamond is the UK’s only government-accredited advanced driver and rider development programme. This highest level accreditation is given to only one driving school in each country.
KDS started offering its services in 2004 as a driving training centre in an area of about 42,000 square metres for training Mowasalat (Karwa) drivers. In 2007, it started offering driving training to the public also. KDS upgrades and updates itself constantly with training programmes accredited by specialist international organisations.
KDS’ training programmes include a number of specialised courses to train public and private transport drivers to deal with major events and international conferences of all kinds. One of its specialised training programmes is the ‘Preparation of Drivers for Large Events’, which is accredited by Maybo UK as part of Qatar’s preparations for hosting FIFA 2022.
KDS was the first driver training centre to receive ISO 9001:2008 certification in Qatar. It has also received several international accreditations, including City & Guilds UK’s accreditation and the IRU membership.
KDS offers training courses to obtain driving licence for light and heavy vehicles, in addition to conducting courses such as Defensive Driving Training, ADR Dangerous Goods Driver Training, Emergency Response Vehicles Training, Four Wheel Vehicle Training, CPC Driver Training and CPC Manager Training. KDS also offers training to operate mobile cranes, back hoes, excavators, shovels, boom trucks, forklifts, medium trucks and Trailers.
