Three people have been killed and four wounded in a shooting that started as a fight at a bowling alley south of Los Angeles, local media reported early Saturday.
The shooting occurred shortly before midnight (0800 GMT Saturday) at Gable House Bowl in Torrance, a coastal city about 30 kilometres south of Los Angeles.
The three victims died at the scene, the Los Angeles Times reported.
The identities of those involved in the shooting were unknown, as was the cause for the fight, the paper said.
The Torrance Police Department has not staged a press conference or updated its initial Twitter post, which said only “multiple victims down.”
The Los Angeles Times said family members had gathered at the scene seeking loved ones after word of the shooting got out, some of them despondent as they sought information from police. The venue also features laser tag, karaoke, an arcade and several snack bars, according to its website.
In November, a gunman opened fire inside a crowded country music bar in the Greater Los Angeles area, killing 12 people and himself.
Police in the city of Thousand Oaks identified the shooter as a 28-year-old former Marine.
That shooting occurred less than two weeks after a 46-year-old man killed 11 people at a synagogue in Pittsburgh. The suspected gunman has been indicted on 44 counts, including religious hate crimes, and could face the death penalty if convicted.
