Doha
The country is all decked up for Qatar National Day (QND) celebrations on Tuesday in an atmosphere filled with pride, poise, patriotism and loyalty.
The grand ceremonial armed forces parade will take place on the Doha Corniche at 2.45pm.
The parade will be preceded by a classic car show along the Doha Corniche. Later in the evening, fireworks will start at 8pm that will last for 10 minutes.
Al Kass TV channel is the official broadcaster of the National Day parade.
Besides the celebrations at Corniche, venues for the National Day celebrations across the country are expected to draw large number of enthusiastic citizens and residents, women and children.
Darb Al Saai, the main venue of the National Day festivities, is hosting varieties of entertainment and cultural activities with much fanfare.
While Souq Waqif has been a great attraction for both Qataris and expatriates, Katara is another venue where many events are planned for both children as well as adults.
The entire Doha Corniche wears a festive look decorated with colourful flags, bunting and festoons. The main platform has been recently expanded and beautified for the parade and the celebrations.
Qatar’s flags have been raised on the lighting poles to float in the sky of glory, evoking the history of ancient Qatar and its modern progress.
The motto of the Qatar National Day 2018 ‘As long as it was proven by our deeds … Qatar remains free’ reflects the vision of the Organizing Committee of Qatar National Day 2018 celebrations representing loyalty, unity and pride in Qatar national identity.
The Organising Committee is keen to make the National Day celebrations on Corniche this year a distinguished one.
The palm trees along the Corniche have been decorated. The trees and fountains have been beautified.
Green spaces, which runs for kilometres along the Corniche, have been decorated with roses and seedlings.
