CHAIRMAN and Managing Director of Qatar Postal Services Company (Qatar Post) Faleh Mohammed al Nuaimi has announced Qatar Post’s ambitious plans for 2019.
In a statement to Qatar News Agency on the occasion of Qatar National Day, Nuaimi said, “One of the key projects that Qatar Post seeks to implement in the future is to enable credit card payments through mobile devices, introduce self-service units in branches through retail network, complete upgrading finance and procurement systems, implement new automated sorting system, achieve integration with customs systems and expand smart cabinets networks during the last quarter of 2019.”
He said the National Day is an important occasion to sow the seeds of love and loyalty in the younger generations as well as to remember the efforts of the founders who established the State, and move forward with the ideals inherited through generations.
Nuaimi said the unity of people and their solidarity with Qatar’s leadership led to the development of the country in a record time, making the country a model of economic development and social welfare, which is based on the pillars inherited through generations.
He said the efforts of the leadership and the people are united and the State boosts its human and economic capabilities with a clear vision, supported by the solidarity of Qataris and residents.
It is through these efforts that “we were able to turn the curse of siege into a blessing, thanks to God Almighty,” the Qatar Post chief added.
He praised the remarkable economic growth achieved by the country in the recent times, and called upon every individual to work for Qatar’s glory while inculcating noble values among children.
He called for a collective effort to achieve self-reliance in all fields in order to achieve sustainable development.
Nuaimi said that Qatar Post had made a number of accomplishments, most notably achieving 100 percent of the standard mail delivery time in the last quarter of 2017. Furthermore, Qatar Post achieved 95.1 percent of the distribution time in the first and the second quarters of 2018, surpassing the 80 percent target set by the Universal Postal Union.
In February, 2017, Qatar Post launched a new service under the name of Digital Mailroom Solutions, which is a sophisticated e-service that reduces cost and relies on the Internet and the automation system to track the delivery of mails.
It also implemented the EPOSS programme, which checks automatic transactions, provides reports on sales, coordinates inventory data and performs many other services through branch staff.
Qatar Post signed contracts with leading IT companies to develop the company’s technological infrastructure, which enhance operational capabilities and services.
Qatar Post has also started implementing the RFID technology, which allows for better tracking and achieves the goal of high-quality service.
The company also launched a home delivery service across Qatar which is available to all customers who have a subscription to personal mailbox. The mail can be delivered one, three or six times a week based on customer’s choice.
Qatar Post has also launched an international service, which allows the delivery of letters and parcels to more than 220 countries.
