Qatar has opened two visa centres in Bangladesh, one in Dhaka and the other in Sylhet, as part of its efforts to facilitate and streamline the procedures for bringing in expatriate workers.
The launch of the Qatar Visa Centers in Bangladesh comes as part of the opening of 20 such centres in eight countries (the first of which was opened in Sri Lanka in October) to speed up the procedures for workers and follow it up with the authorities concerned in Qatar.
Director General of Passports Major General Mohammed Ahmed al Ateeq said the launch of the Qatar Visa Centers in Bangladesh was part of the project to establish visa centres overseas.
These centres are providing services like registration of vital data, fingerprinting, medical examinations, and signing of employment contracts.
This makes it easier for expats as they can start working immediately upon their arrival in Qatar.
Director of Recruitment Support Services Department at Passports Directorate Major Abdullah Khalifa al Mohannadi said the opening of the two new centres in Bangladesh reflects Qatar’s efforts at protecting the rights of the expatriate workers and facilitating work procedures for them.
Similar centres will be opened in other countries in the coming period, he added.
These centres help protect the rights of both the employees and employers and helps avoid cases wherein expat workers have to return back home after arriving in Qatar, on being found ineligible for employment.
The highly-effective visa centers enable both employers and employees to perform their roles accurately through an integrated recruitment system with the employer’s registration on the Ministry of Interior’s website and issuing of reference numbers for the expatriates to complete their procedures.
