The aviation sector of Qatar has been witnessing a huge leap, thanks to the support of the wise leadership of Qatar, Minister of Transport and Communications HE Jassim bin Saif al Sulaiti has said.
Speaking on Monday at the three-day Global Aviation Training & TrainAir Plus Symposium which opened at Qatar National Convention Centre, Sulaiti said that Hamad International Airport and Qatar Airways were seeing remarkable growth and added that Qatar would continue to implement projects in the aviation sector in order to realise the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030.
Sulaiti said: “Qatar is hosting this important conference to provide a platform for international aviation experts to highlight the best practices in aeronautical training, which is one of the most important elements of aviation.”
The minister also praised Qatar Aeronautical College (QAC) for twinning its curriculum with international universities, updating its aircraft fleets and training equipment to enable its students to carry out their mission in aviation specialties in light of the development and competition seen in the global services and aviation market.
Hosted by Qatar Aeronautical College in collaboration with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and with support from Ministry of Transport and Communication, the symposium is being held for the first time in Qatar and the Middle East.
Prominent among those who attended the opening ceremony included the Secretary General of the International Civil Aviation Organization Fang Liu and Director General of Qatar Aeronautical College Sheikh Jaber bin Hamad al Thani.
Attended by over 800 people, the ceremony awarded new associate members, new full members, and new corporate partners from several countries including Algeria, Oman and China.
During his speech, Sheikh Jaber stressed on the importance of training to promote aviation skills.
The participants at the ceremony include members of the TrainAir Plus Programme, industry stakeholders and academic institutions. The objective is to provide them with a forum to learn about new programme features and benefits, develop new business opportunities, and promote their training organisation and products.
The event provides a forum where ICAO member states and training organisations come together to forge new alliances for aviation training, and at the same time enhance their awareness of key capacity-building priorities for global air transport.
