Aisha al Suwaidi of Qatar gained the distinction of securing most gold medals in the ongoing Arab Shooting Championships.
At the Losail Ranges on Tuesday, she led the home team's clean-sweep of the 10m and 50m air rifle events to take her tally to four gold medals (both individual and team).
Her teammates Nasra Mahmoud and Aldana al Mubarak also shot brilliantly to help Qatar pull off both individual and team titles in the air pistol events (10m and 25m).
After Ahmed al Shammari clinched the 25m pistol gold medal for Qatar, Oman edged the Kuwaiti rivals for the spoils in the men's pistol and rifle events.
Oman bagged the mixed 10m air rifle team gold and their Issam al Balushi landed a fine golden double in 10m air rifle. Their Saeed al Hashemi, Sultan al Batashi and Mohammed al Ghilani claimed the 25m pistol team title as well, beating Qatar.
Oman's fourth title was bagged by Ismail al Abri, who got the better of Kuwait's Ali Almutairi in the 10m air pistol.
Kuwait's three gold medals came through the 50m rifle prone (individual and team) and 10m air pistol team. Almutairi, Hamad Alnmshaan and Saad Alajmi collected 1702 to beat Oman for the 10m air pistol crown.
Turki Alshemeri led a gallant effort and enabled Kuwait to clinch the 50m rifle prone individual and team titles. He staved off Oman's Ibrahim al Muqbali and Hamd al Khatri to win the individual gold by as narrowly as 0.1 point.
The fight for the team gold was also quite intense between them and Kuwait were barely able to grab the title by two points. Alshemeri, Khaled Almajed and Abdullah Alharbi contributed to take the Kuwait's score to 1835.8, while Oman managed only 1833.8.
