HE Sheikha Hind bint Hamad al Thani, vice-chairperson and CEO of Qatar Foundation, on Wednesday met with record-breaking Olympic swimmer and mental health campaigner Michael Phelps at the 'Friendship Bench' at the World Innovation Summit for Health (WISH) 2018.
The 'Friendship Bench,' an evidence-based intervention tool created in Zimbabwe, aims to create a safe place for people struggling with anxiety and depression to find help. The bench was recently at the Global Ministerial Summit on Mental Health in London, and used by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
HE Sheikha Hind and Phelps then visited Dairo Vargas' 'Father and Son' interactive painting. Specially commissioned for WISH, the piece was brought to life by Colombian-born Vargas alongside summit attendees, who were given the opportunity to make their own artistic contribution to the painting.
Following his attendance at WISH, Phelps visited QF Headquarters in Education City, where he learned about QF's various education, science and research, and community development entities and initiatives. (TNN)
